As a part of the project of social adaptation of single mothers, representatives of the “Dobrota” foundation visited the regional nursing home.

The second stage of the unique project of social adaptation of single mothers, which was founded in late 2017 in Voronezh has started. Charity foundation “Dobrota” and its founder Alexander Zhukov were the initiators of the project.

The implementation of the project which contains not only living condition assistance but also psychological help and sewing courses was available due to the president’s grant. Sewing supplies and tissues were bought as a part of the project. Also, a psychologist with 17th-years practice holds weekly training and group sessions.

The first stage of the project was finished at the end of April. More than a hundred of women received assistance during the first five months. Mothers, according to their words, not only feel themselves better but also acquire new professional skills. They even held their own exhibition of the handmade goods. Some of those goods were given to the kids from social shelter located on the Tupolev street.

– I am very glad that we were able to bring something new to the life of these women. It’s important that they feel they are helping society to develop. They are an example of courage and self-confidence for other people – said the founder of the “Dobrota” foundation Alexander Zhukov.

The second stage of the social project has started in the first days of May. More women took a part in it – the project became more attractive after it’s first stage. Now women are working with the psychologist and studying sewing.

– The new sewing supplies made possible to moms to progress in professional skills and make money. Even moms with grown-up children take part in this process. And this is great. Women say they are glad to help not only themselves but also children and elderly people – said Social worker Zoya Pastukhova.

Women learned the sewing skills basics in less than a month and even produced full-fledged products. In association with “Dobrota” foundation they decided to give away some of those products to the nursing home.

– It’s nice to know that all of those products are handmade. It will be an excellent Trinity present for parent’s Saturday. It’s important that elderly people, as well as disabled, received a part of joy given heart-to-heart – says Alexey Spitsyn, abbot of the mother of god’s icon temple “Recovery of the fallen”, the head of the diocesan department for the protection of childhood and maternity.

It’s not the first time the “Dobrota” foundation cooperates with this nursing home. Representatives of the charity organization and its founder Alexander Zhukov regularly visit the elderly with household items, food, and gifts. This time they also didn’t come empty-handed:

– I started working at this nursing home in 2001 and the fall of the year we celebrated with the presents from the “Dobrota” charity foundation. We often gather for the holidays: the New Year, May the 9th, the Day of the Disabled, the Day of the Elderly People – said Yury Nedosekin, head of the region nursing home for Elderly and Disabled.

About forty elderly people are now living in this nursing home, two of which are facing their 100th birthday.

– It’s important that they will receive maintenance and care at this age – says the founder of the “Dobrota” foundation Alexander Zhukov – To help people is our human duty. Not only financial but simply being near. Because any new event is important when you are constantly trapped in four walls. I consider these events must continue. We must communicate more with elderly people and we will both win.
