Single mothers will master new professional skills in Voronezh

A new project started in Voronezh in 2017, which aim is to help single mothers with social adaptation. The single mothers will have a chance to be provided with psychological assistance and to master sewing skills.

The program of social assistance was initially started in 2014 when the construction of “Mother’s Home” was begun. This center was built in order to give shelter and bread.

Women had already been provided with furniture, clothes, toys, legal advice and social support. More than that, the volunteers of “Dobrota” decided to help single mother to adopt socially and find themselves. It is not a secret that social adaptation is impossible without professional development, so the single mothers will be able to master their sewing skills, too.

The sum of grant given to the Foundation “Dobrota”, was 1 044 466 rubles. The charitable organization started investing money in January. All necessary equipment and fabric were purchased.
– If there are people who need rehabilitation, we will give them an opportunity to help with their own abilities – to learn a new profession. There is no point in sitting idly if you want to change your life, – said A. Zhukov.

– A seamstress is a kind of profession that you can learn all your life but you will never master it completely. These skills are necessary in life, I have already tried to work in this area, but it turned out a really difficult task, – said Alexandra, a young mother.

Now the project is developing, but there is no doubt that it will be popular:
– This is a good event for our shelter. There are a lot of needy families, not only those who live in the Mother’s Home, but also those who rent apartments, among them single mothers – refugees from Ukraine. They all need our help, but, as the proverb says “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”. Therefore, for these women, such training is a great opportunity to find a job, – said Archpriest Alexey Spitsyn, head of the diocesan Department of the Voronezh metropolis “Protection of family, motherhood and childhood”.

The first classes are going to start very soon. There are 80 women who will master the sewing skills. The single mother will make clothes not only for their own children, but also for inmates of the orphanages and elderly people of nursing homes.

– Our fund “Dobrota” has been cooperating for a long time with those who need support. It is really difficult to help everyone, but we do our best in order not to forget anyone, – said A. Zhukov, the founder of «Dobrota».
