Medal for Kindness

Medal for Kindness

As the proverb says “An act of kindness is well repaid”. Actions taken from the bottom of the heart in order to help others, always find a response in the hearts of those who are caring and not indifferent.

The Foundation of Social Support and Protection of Population “Kindness” helps many people. Its founder, a member of the City Duma, Alexander Zhukov is very sensitive to the problems of ordinary citizens. They come to him for help from different parts of the city and regions. In addition to those recourses that come to him, he willingly shows considerable initiative in supporting those who need it. Thus, one of the directions of his charitable activity is the support of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Believers of Voronezh have already been pleased by the church of St. George the Victorious for more than a year. In fact, before the church was built, there had been a small private plot on Zagorodnaya Street in Kominternovsky district. The social support fund “Kindness” played a key role in the construction of the church from its very foundation to the dome. This process was far from easy. Builders had to show ingenuity and do their best to get close to the former private garden plot.

The Fund also defrayed most expanses of the iconostasis decoration and took care for the improvement of the territory, which beauty and comfort couldn’t be underestimated by citizens. But still, the most valuable and important gift was a belfry, which bells were cast by one of the best Russian masters. In memory of this every bell keeps the engraving of the fund “Kindness”, which is a reminiscence of true faith, true kindness and disinterested help, which Alexander Zhukov and the “Kindness” Foundation lend to all in need.

Moreover, A. Zhukov regularly donates to the church, goes to the church, visits asylums and boarding schools. All this sincere activity could not be unnoticed. That is why on January 19, 2015, Metropolitan Kirill of Voronezh awarded the founder of the “Kindness” Foundation with the jubilee medal of the Russian Orthodox Church “In memory of the 200th anniversary of the victory in the Patriotic War of 1812”.

In addition to the medal and diploma, Alexander Alekseevich got a letter of gratitude from the Rector of the Pokrovskiy Cathedral in Voronezh. On behalf of parishioners, church staff, Archpriest Sergiy Mozdor heartily thanked the deputy for help, due to which the restoration of the bell tower of the cathedral, the cultural and historical monument of Russia, was successfully completed.

“It’s a great honor for me,” says Alexander Zhukov. – “Doing good, we do not think of rewards. We do this because the soul wants it. We sincerely help those who need it. Faith makes us better”.
