Voronezh and Liskinsk Metropolitan Sergius consecrated the social shelter “Mother’s House of the church of the icon of the Mother of God “In Search of Perishing” on 23th of June in Voronezh. The charitable foundation has been taking part in the arrangement of the House for more than ten years.
The construction of a social shelter for single mothers and their children who are left without the care and support of relatives began in 2004. This project was also blessed by Voronezh and Liskinsk Metropolitan Sergius, and the Kindness Foundation, headed by Alexander Zhukov, played an important role in the process of its building. During this time, modern and comfortable furniture for mothers and their babies appeared in the social shelter, a kitchen and a bath were fully equipped, toys and clothes were purchased. And in 2017, the “Kindness” Foundation began to implement a project for the social adaptation of single mothers, which affected not only the women themselves, but also made an additional contribution to the development of the shelter.
Let us recall that the idea of the project for the social adaptation of single mothers won the grand of the president of the Russian Federation with a sum of more than one million rubles. The initiative to implement the program was approved by Metropolitan Sergius. One of the ideas of the project was not only to help women cope with psychological problems, but also to teach them sewing skills. I order to make this idea real, modern sewing equipment; components and additional necessary furniture were brought to the Voronezh Mother’s House. For more than six months moms have been sewing for themselves, their children and even for orphanages.
By the way, the project of the Voronezh charitable organization was recognized the best at the international conference in Geneva this summer.
– It’s great that the House was completely finished, the legal status was obtained, so that it made easy to work. This is the result of what has been done for more than a year. This very building has already became home, and now in the House, which the Metropolitan consecrated, this feeling will be even more comprehensive, -says Alexander Zhukov.
It is worth noticing that the Mother’s House was consecrated in honor of the holy preacher, Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna Romanova. At the end of the ceremony, Metropolitan Sergius addressed the audience:
– This House of Mercy is named after Elizabeth Feodorovna because her example inspires lots of people. I would like everyone who comes to this house to live here for a while, to receive love and affection, and to learn what makes us brighter, – says Voronezh and Liskinsk Metropolitan Sergius.
There is no doubt that this House has a great future. The Charitable Fund will help them with new furniture, toys, clothes and other things.
– It will be nice if there can be as more such days as possible because they bring people positive energy. What gives people good emotions? Even a warm word will change a person. It gives strength and hope, – says A. Zhukov.
