On January 31st, the final games of futsal event dedicated to the memory of the Hero of Russia, Sergei Anatolievich Anikin, who sacrificed his life for the defense of his homeland in the Chechen Republic on January 14, 2000, took place in gymnasium № 1. Having run into an unexpected ambush, the Patrol Group did not lose courage. Sergei Anikin was the first to bring down fire on enemy. He succumbed to his injures.
Both teachers and pupils recall the feat of the hero, playing futsal every year. A. A. Zhukov is one who decided to hold the competition, because he feels his duty to make the youth generation keep in memory the feats and to teach patriotism and love for the Motherland.
It took a week to stage the competition and there were participants from 12 schools. The contest was exciting and tense: boys played football as they were the most important matches in their lives, but only three teams reached the final.
The results of the competition were the following: school №39 was the third, school №51 took the second one and the team of Mikhailovskiy cadet corps won the lead. All participants were awarded with diplomas, sweets, watches, badminton kits and footballs. The winners were given medals and the Competition Cup.
Also, the competition is very significant for comrades of S. Anikin. The Lieutenant Colonel S. A. Khorkin and the OMON Vice Commander A.V. Khristenko visited the competition in order to congratulate the participants and pay tribute to S. Anikin.
“We have no right to bury our history and cultural heritage in oblivion” says A. Zhukov, – “If we do so, we simply lose the future. To know your country’s history means to be a dignified citizen of a country. The feat of S. Anikin is an example of patriotism”.
